6 Ways to Style a Wild Rag
Share
I absolutely adore wild rags! Though if I’m being honest I never used to wear them because they felt intimidating. Once I figured out how to style them, things changed.
Wild rags are a versatile and stylish accessory that can easily elevate any outfit. Originally used by cowboys to protect their necks from sun, wind, and dust; wild rags have since become a popular fashion accessory for both men and women. Here are some creative ways to style wild rags to add a touch of Western flair to your look:
1. Classic Neck Tie:
One of the most common ways to wear a wild rag is to fold it into a triangle and tie it loosely around your neck. This creates a classic Western look that pairs perfectly with jeans and a flannel shirt.
Another way to wear this is to roll the rag completely like a tie and then make a simple square knot or cowboy knot. I recently found a rose knot that is so cool and easy.
2. Bandana Style:
For a more relaxed and casual look, fold your wild rag into a triangle and tie it around your head like a bandana. This style is perfect for keeping your hair out of your face on windy days or adding a pop of color to a simple outfit.
With this you can again roll or fold the rag completely to make more of a headband, this is classic and looks great. You can leave your hair up or down and leave the rag tails hanging. So cute and practical.
3. Cowboy Knot:
To add a touch of authenticity to your Western look, tie your wild rag using the cowboy knot. Simply fold the wild rag in half to create a triangle, place it around your neck, cross the ends at the back, and bring them back to the front to secure the knot. This style is perfect for adding a touch of rugged charm to your outfit.
4. Hair Accessory:
Again, get creative and use your wild rag as a hair accessory. Simply fold it into a long strip and tie it around a ponytail or bun for an effortless and chic look. You can also use it as a headband by tying it around your head and securing it at the nape of your neck.
5. Bag Accessory:
This is such an over looked option, that can make an huge impact on your look. Add a pop of color and personality to your handbag by tying a wild rag around the handle. This simple touch can instantly elevate your bag and make a statement with your outfit.
6. Bracelet:
For a unique and unexpected twist, wrap a wild rag around your wrist to create a colorful bracelet. This accessory is perfect for adding a playful touch to your outfit and can be easily mixed and matched with different prints and colors.
Wild rags are a versatile accessory that can be styled in countless ways to add a touch of Western flair to your look. Whether you choose to wear it as a necktie, bandana, hair accessory, or bag accessory, wild rags are a fun and stylish addition to any outfit.
